For parents who care about test prep, but not about being annoying about it

How GradeEarn works.

Your kid practices. They earn cents. When the balance hits a toy's price, you ship them one. We built it because nothing on the market actually worked on our kids. This does.

Why we built it

Built by a parent, tested on real kids.

I'm Hamid, a financial systems engineer at USAA, dad of three (Aaima, 7; Saad, 9; Hiba, newborn). Saad needed STAAR practice in 4th grade. Every app I tried — IXL, Khan, generic test-prep — got abandoned within a week.

I built GradeEarn at our kitchen table. Saad gave me notes. The thing that finally clicked: let the practice pay him in cents he can spend on real toys we actually ship. Not points. Not stickers. Money toward something he picks.

He hit a 21-day streak. So I'm shipping it to other parents.

9 My son's age, on day one
21 His first streak, in days
15¢ Per correct answer
How it works

Four steps. Fifteen minutes a day.

  1. 1

    Pick your kid's grade.

STAAR Math practice for Texas, every grade 3–8 plus Algebra 1. TEKS-aligned. Built by Texas parents who know exactly what's on the test.

  2. 2

    Your kid practices.

AI-generated questions match the format and rigor of the real test. Multiple choice, four answers, instant feedback. Wrong answers come with a Socratic explanation, not a scolding.

  3. 3

    Cents add up.

Every correct answer is worth 15¢. Every 5-correct streak adds a small bonus. Cents accumulate in a balance. The kid sees the balance grow in real time. So do you.

  4. 4

    We ship the toy.

When their balance is enough, your kid picks a toy from our marketplace. You confirm the order. We ship it to your door. Lego sets, smartwatches, art kits, Roblox credit, you name it. Real toys, real fast.

What we cover

Built for the test your kid actually takes.

Each state has its own test, its own standards, its own grades tested. We don't give you a generic test-prep app. We give you the specific one.

Founders' note

From real kids and real parents.

"I made $4.50 in one Saturday morning. I bought a Hot Wheels set. My friend at school doesn't believe me."

Saad, 9 — Texas, STAAR Grade 3

"He asks to practice. Not the other way around. The first time that's happened since kindergarten."

FAQ

Real questions, real answers.

Is this really free?
During beta, yes — every part of practice is free. We pay for the toys you order out of our pocket because we want feedback from real families before charging. We'll introduce a parent subscription tier later (likely $9–19/month) and you'll get advance notice. Existing beta families will be honored at favorable terms.
How does my kid get the toys?
Your kid picks a toy from the in-app marketplace when their balance is enough. You confirm the order. We ship via standard parcel — usually 3–5 business days. No hidden shipping fees, no surprises.
Can my kid cheat their way to toys?
Each correct answer earns 15¢. To buy a $20 Lego set, that's 134 correct answers. Practice that much and your kid is genuinely better at the test. The system is designed so the only way to "cheat" is to actually study.
Is the AI safe for kids?
Yes. Our tutor is built specifically for K-12 educational content. It only generates math practice questions aligned to your state's standards. It does not collect personal information beyond your name and grade. It cannot wander into other topics, marketing, or anything inappropriate. Reviewed monthly.
What grades and subjects do you cover?
STAAR Math is live for Texas — every tested grade (3–8 plus Algebra 1). Reading, Science, and Social Studies are coming next. Other states are on the roadmap once we've made Texas the deepest STAAR practice anywhere.
Why Texas-only?
Because STAAR isn't CAASPP isn't TCAP. Every state has different standards, different question formats, different rigor. We're building the deepest TEKS-aligned STAAR Math practice anywhere — and we'll add other states once Texas is rock-solid.
What about my data?
We store your kid's name, grade, state, and practice history. We never sell or share with third parties. You can delete your account anytime. We're COPPA-aware and treat all kid data as sensitive by default.
Do you accept beta feedback?
Yes — actively. Reach out via the chat widget on the bottom right of any page. I (Hamid) read every message personally during beta. If something's broken, please tell me. If something's working, please also tell me.
